Meet the Bitter Old Painters

Why are we even writing a bio? Who cares about two geeks cutting up little plastic monsters and throwing paint on them? Well, you do, apparently, since you clicked the link, and now you have to read it. Yes, you do. It's OUR blog and WE make the rules.

GuitaRasmus:

My interest in miniatures started when I was wee lad of 8 (for anyone interested, here's the story) and it was an all-consuming hobby. I played most of the stuff GW made; 40k, Fantasy Battle, Necromunda, GorkaMorka, you name it. That lasted until my teens when I started high school, hair started showing up in weird places, and girls suddenly became interesting. and I started playing music. Then guitar (and girls) was all I cared about for many years.

However, in my late twenties I worked at a youth club, where the kids was interested in trying some 40k out, and I took it on as a professionally, but soon I realized how much I'd missed miniatures and how good they'd become, so I relapsed big time. Fast forward to now:

I'm 41 years as of this writing and married with two small boys (age 2 and 4). I'm a full time teacher at a public school and a part time musician. For the last 12 years I've been working on tons of different projects, with varying succes - most of the times the lack of succes being that I didn't finish it. I'm a notorious hobby butterfly, and a proud proponent of always following inspiration. It doesn't matter to me one bit if a project ends up on a shelf, unpainted or unfinished. Maybe it'll be finished one day, maybe it won't, but I had fun doing it, and that's all that matters.

I LOVE converting miniatures. Most (if not all) of my miniatures are cut up, twisted, converted and mangled in some way or another, and I love making a miniature unique and my own. I have done some crazy kitbashes over the years and some very large pieces for various 40k and AoS armies (check out the gallery if you're curious), but these days I much prefer smaller scale skirmishes, particularly Kill Team and Warcry. I love that the projects are small and manageable, and I'm able to pour a lot of love and dedication into a small group of miniatures, while still being a reasonably quick project, so that I can actually finish it and move onto the next shiny new thing. I DO paint, just not very quickly and I very much prefer modelling and converting, so I have a lot more grey plastic than painted. And that's completely fine by me.

Ps: Yes. I know my username is dumb. I came up with it 20 years ago, at the infancy of the internet, when I followed a lot of guitar gear message boards. When I started playing with miniatures again, it never occurred to me to make a relevant username. It's dumb. And now I'm stuck with it. Oh well.
